What does it mean to Love, Move, Breathe?

About Kinsey

A dancer since age 5, Kinsey earned her BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was here that she was first introduced to yoga. At the time, she approached yoga as something she “should” do to achieve some sort of mind-body balance and address chronic low back pain. She didn’t love it. It made her feel weak in ways she didn’t expect and frustrated with her inability to “still her mind.” It wasn’t until 2012, four years and one child later, that a friend would re-introduce her to it, with an invitation to become a yoga instructor. With a plan to guilt herself into practice by purchasing a top notch yoga mat, Kinsey committed to taking classes and invested in a 200-hour yoga teacher training. This time, with kindness, self-compassion, and a better understanding of what yoga is, Kinsey’s passion for yoga finally bloomed.

Since then, Kinsey has taught more than 400 hours of vinyasa yoga to adults including basics workshops, beginner and slow flow, intermediate and warm flow classes, and private lessons. She also completed her kids yoga certificate with Kidding Around Yoga and built a business providing yoga themed birthday parties and kids camps.

As someone who didn’t love yoga at first, she understands both it’s benefits and why students can struggle to access those benefits. That’s why she teaches through the lens of her Love Move Breathe philosophy. It’s also why she offers other fitness classes which make many benefits of yoga and movement accessible, without the traditional yoga format and philosophy.
